Kao Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 Hi there! I'm a long time reader, first time contributer to this forum so take this as a "Hi" post as well as a question if you don't mind I've been running some cheap Alpine Coax 40w RMS speakers in my doors for quite some time but recently I upgraded my subwoofers in the boot and the front speakers were no longer coping.. I bought some 70w RMS Component speakers @ 4Ohms and to my dismay they were QUIETER than my previous speakers.. I assumed this was because the impedence was higher on the 70w speakers and thus the amp in my headunit (Alpine 103bt) couldn't handle the power required by my new speakers. Soo.. long story short, I'm looking to buy a new amp! Preferably one that is SMALL (want to mount in dash or inside glove box) and is the correct power for my new speakers. So I'd imagine about.. 120w? My budget will be about £80 (~$120) and the amp will preferably be availiable to buy in the UK! Please could you educate a noob? andale927 Posted July 12, 2012 Report Posted July 12, 2012 I like my Pioneer 5500T it puts out 125w X2 and its pretty cheap If fits under my passenger seat and it just might fit in your glovebox depending on how big your glovebox is...
Zapanater Posted July 12, 2012 Report Posted July 12, 2012 Welcome to the forum! Rockford Punch series would be a good match, and would fit your budget perfectly. People respect you for having Rockford too, can't go wrong. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROCKFORD-FOSGATE-P200-2-CHANNEL-AMPLIFIER-CAR-PUNCH-AMP-/221048462281?pt=Car_Amplifiers&hash=item337783dbc9 2015 Subaru Outback. Tim Lam Posted July 13, 2012 Report Posted July 13, 2012 agreed with andale927 i have a pioneer powering my 2 door speakers, the power is very clear and crisp. you can find amps on that series for a good prices too!
ChrisAllen Posted July 14, 2012 Report Posted July 14, 2012 Alpine makes the ktp 445. It's a very good compact amp and they have both an alpine specific one and a universal for custom applications. 45 rms to each 4 channels. The part number for the universal is ktp 445u
