Mikey Bates
So my question is. I have an American Bass HD 3500. It is 1600rms at 1 ohm, and It doesn't say what it is at 2 Ohms but let's say around 800. Right now with a 2ohm load i see 13.15 volts at full tilt. by going to 1 ohm, will it consume more power creating worse voltage drop, or will it pull the same power, but because there is less resistance the sub gets more power?? I think i worded this correcting haha
n8ball2013
simple ohms law will give you your answer as impedence lowers current draw rises in a nutshell. Mikey Bates
So dimming and voltage drop should stay the same? (i figured this as i know the ohm laws give or take just wanted second opinion)
n8ball2013
where the hell did you get that out of what i said. Shankkilla420
No >< when your drawing more current that equals more power..
NT_Hardcore
the lower the imp the worse it will be on your elec. so lights will get dimmer. Edited July 9, 2012 by NT_Hardcore
Mikey Bates
lol im not sure i guess. . . read it kinda quickly. i know as ohms drop current rises, which is the whole point of running lower ohms. but did you mean current draw on my amp from battery and such increase as well? answered, ninja'd. thanks guys! STEvil
Current is supplied from the battery and the alternator. If you increase current draw and have a resistance factor or not enough current supply you will cause voltage to dip which has the visual effect of dimming your lights. If you're using 100 amps of power it comes from somewhere, you cant just increase the power draw and expect your supply system to cope magically. edit Also, you can not increase power ouput without increaseing power draw (amps)... unless you get a more efficient amp, but the general rule is no power ouput increase without power input increase. Edited July 12, 2012 by STEvil Quote MickyMcD - "Capable of making some serious trouser flapping volumes at where's-my-testicles frequencies, the Servo-Drives used to be fairly jaw dropping..." Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through. Hammerdown... 1% no links to outside websites, business related FB/YT pages allowed. bassface
It wont be 800 at 2 ohms, probably like 1200
andale927
Yeah, you will definitely at least double current draw
