New Subs, Box Design For 90 Celica

Recommended Posts

alright i got four 12" ultra linear subs pritty cheap so i picked em up. i put em in the celica, i just took my old box and put two more holes in it so it has 2 subs per port. i added bracing to the inside so everything is snug. my question is would i get more output if i did a quad chamber design, seperate airspaces for each sub. or is it alright to run the 2 subs per port. i know they are cheap subs, it was either these or those MA audio's i made a thread of before. i found the better deal on these so i got em. if i dont blow them i will easily make a profit off some of the kids at school. tell me whatcha know, thanks

morning bump. question is~ would a quad chamber box be louder then a dual chamber box with 2 subs per chamber. in the quad chamber each sub would have its own airspace. which would possible be louder?

First-

Take some deep breaths and Settle down!

second- yea them subs are teh suck...so good luck not roasting them in 20 sec.

You're kinda asking the wrong Q.

Sharing airspace will not effect sub output unless there isnt enough air to begin with.

So make sure you have enough air for the subs you wanna run RAGARDLESS of single/multiple chamber.

You need enough PORT area for a given AIRSPACE, not port/per woofer which is how you asked ur Q...so maybe folks have no clue what ur talkin bout.

You need to figure out how much airspace is in ur box after you subtract the DISPLACEMENT or amount of space/air taken up byy ur subs+ports.

Then, based on that amount of air, you can determine how you will tune the box.

Calculate how much PORT AREA you have available and how LONG that 1 port or multiple ports can be.

Once you have that info you can use an online port calculator to fig it out or ask amat-he does charity work that most others would charge to do.

If thats^^^ confusing, keep askin Q's and we, the SMD box heads, will do our best to help you straighten it out.

lol these subs have gone through more abuse so far then my cadence. i am actually suprised with them, yes they are not at loud as other subwoofers but they sound ok. if i dont have to work tonight i will get all of the specs to my box w/ displacement of subs and port.

thank you for the reply, ill settle down a lil now.
