SMZ2 Posted September 4, 2012 Author Report Posted September 4, 2012 I've been listening to it today and the only thing that is bothering me is that there is a lot of flex from the thin strip of wood at the top of the port and it is buzzing like crazy with this said I don't think I'll be able to pull of the lexan idea I had so I think I'm going to save for another sheet of mdf and double the top of the box and brace the heck out it. Hopefully all that add there should be any more flex issues or buzzing from the box just the xterra haha. So no more lexan I'm going to do something that I know will work instead. 412 CVX Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 you probably could do some vertical bracing with threaded rod. you'd have to pull it out again haha, but there is a way you can do that. put the threaded rod off to the sides so it still allows you to move around in the box. You'll have to put 3/4" thick block of wood on the bottom so you can make everything flush on the outside. I'll sketch it up if you need me to. Just say no to Ground Pounder Customs. My temp system build log More box buildssome cars do over 170db with one sub, so clearly my two 12"s can do that in my car, with my knowledge too! look out bitches! I'm with captain stupid.

I have some aluminium angles I made also for bracing the top. Do you think I should still double up the top? I want to if it will help. I still have to take it out to paint anyway and the cover for the old port is temporary until I get some more mdf. I also have to make a frame for the box etc so I planned on taking it out haha. Plus Ill have to do the double baffle for the reason of sealing the old port I think I will drop the lexan idea haha. The current way its sealed is just temporary its only spray foam and screws I was just tired of not having beat...
