A little advise on a pervious car sale

Recommended Posts

So last August I sold my Ranger to some kid that lived up in Portland Or, about 130 miles from where I live. I even deliverd to him. We wrote up a bill of sale and I sent in the notice of sale to the DMV. This truck was also in my mom and dads name since when I bought it I had crap for credit but after I paid it off I never changed the title over into my name.

About April this year my mom gets a letter saying they owe for unpaid parking tickets and that it was from the Ranger. So I go to DMV and and do some checking and the guy never changed the title over and DMV never recieved the notice of sale. I also try and find my bill of sale but I had moved since i sold it and can't find it. So DMV puts a "note" in their system that the vehicle was sold. Sent that info to the parking authority and that took care of that.

I still had the guys number from texts when we made the sale so I text him and tell him that he needs to change the title. He was apologetic and said he didn't know he had to change the title because the tags were still good on the plates and said he would do it right away.

Fast forward to this week when my mom gets another letter, this time from California toll roads saying she owes for unpaid tolls from the damn Ranger again. I still have the guys number so I text him about it but he wont answer me back. The number I have for him comes up with an ad for a mountain bike and the name stevie other than that I cant find anything.

So does anyone have any advice on what to do now?

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I sold my ranger( that was registeredto my mom) to a kid that didn't register it in his name and apperantly he got it impounded and never paid to get it out. Well my mom kept getting letters saying she owed the impound fees. Went to DMV and showed them the release of liability that you fill out and they "made a note" and said just disregard those letters.

I hope its no issue but DMV never got my release and all the could do was make a note in their system that it was sold. I hope that is enough. If it was in my name I wouldn't be so concerened because I would just take care of it myself.

Tell him you are going to report it stolen, I bet that will get him to change the title over in a hurry. LOL

Do you have to include tags with the vehicle when you sell them in OR? If not you should not have left the tags on the truck and kept them for transfer.

Im not sure how the laws in your state are, but here in New Mexico when you sell the car you keep your License plate. So when I sell any of my cars the first thing I do it take the plate off so I dont have this issue and the new owner is required to get new license plate and registration. If I choose I cant put my plate on my new car at that point

Thats cool. Im way too old to be upset by shit like that. Your name is winston. Your own parents hated you even before you were born.

My penis is bigger than your penis

I'm far from loud and my roof/headliner flaps around like Adam's ass on a windy day. I think it depends more on the structure of the vehicle.

I dont think you have to but Im not sure. Every used car I've ever bought comes with he plates that are on it. I do know that next time I sell something I wont be including them again if I dont have to.

give the parking authority his number

All ready done.
