gotb00st
I just got a quote from Mike Singer on a 260A H/O alt for my 02' Envoy he stated its the largest he has for the vehicle. I'm unable to run a dual alt setup in my vehicle due to the lack of space with the I6. Here is my current build list: Sub stage 2x FI Sp4 12s or 15s (depending on space) DC 5k amp (running at .5 or 1 ohms) Singer 260A alt XS D3400 under the hood 2x XS D2400s in the rear Front Stage 2x Alpine SPR-60 in the rear doors 2x Alpine SPR-60c components up front Alpine MRX-F65 Amp Wiring Big 3 Upgrade 2x runs of KnuKoncepts 1/0 Kolossus Fleks Kabel for the rear KnuKoncepts KCA 8ga for the front stage 2x Stinger 6000 series RCA's Stinger voltmeter With this setup will I have the proper electrical to maintain voltage for daily use? I listen to allot of dubstep, chopped/screwed, hip hop, and some rock.
AMI CUSTOMS
At 1 ohm yes but .5 ohm you would have some voltage drop into the 11s. gotb00st
So if I did decide to run at .5 ohms would maybe another D2400 compensate for this voltage drop? Or would that be to much strain on the alternator to keep up? Another note I'd like to add is I prob wont be running full tilt most of the time. I would just like to have the reserve if I did decide to.
Bump4life
how does one know exactly what the voltage drop would be? I say it sounds like it should be ample. instal it and leave room or the option to add another batt if you need. Mr.JaunDurfle
Why not go with the XP 3000's? More AH and RC. They are down a little in Max amps, but if you are going to do multiple batteries, which you will need to do, I think the XP's would be better. They are supposed to be better for everyday music listening anyway. With my re-build I'll have a Singer 350A alt, one Yellow Top, 4 XP 3000's, all 1/0 gauge wire and a DC 5.0K wired to .5 ohms nominal. I might have some voltage drop, but shouldn't be much. 2001 VW Passat Sportwagen Alpine ICS-X7HD DC Audio 5K SSA 15" XCON Tantric Sounds 6.5HD's, Sundound Audio SA-6.5CS Incriminator Audio IA6.4 XS batteries, KnuKonceptz wirez, Second Skin
gotb00st
Thanks for the advice, I completely overlooked the xp series batteries. My main concern is a 260a alt wont be able to keep up with the 5k even with plenty of reserve I feel its going to get hot and overworked.
Mr.JaunDurfle
If you put a charger on your batteries every couple of days, you'll help your alt out alot. You should be okay with a 260A alt. 2001 VW Passat Sportwagen Alpine ICS-X7HD DC Audio 5K SSA 15" XCON Tantric Sounds 6.5HD's, Sundound Audio SA-6.5CS Incriminator Audio IA6.4 XS batteries, KnuKonceptz wirez, Second Skin

I didn't know it helped like that. So if i get a charger it will reduce the work on my alternator? also is it only if you're running multiple batts besides the primary? I can plug it every night if thats the case
