Everyone has their favorite and that's all right, but don't count out the first one, ask around before cutting any wood. There are a few interesting threads on the topic.

Loudest setup in that truck probably won't be a box designed like that one. Port up subs up is where I would start.

i had a 99 dodge 1500 ext cab...................subs forward port up sounded better to the ear. ive had subs up and port up.....was a louder to the ear but lows didnt sound good...ive had subs up and port drivers side and that sounded decent........but i believe its just a personnal prefernce.

In the second box a 45 on the port turn (as shown) is good, made the first box transparent for you to see what's inside, check the crossbraces shown on both boxes.

Cross brace is 2" wood dowel?

Should I recess the wooden dowel into the box?

Should I line port or box walls with anything?

Like this? Its a 2nd option I was given. Might be a option I,ve often thought about it.. You actually were the reason I asked for it but the first one was a bit simpler to assemble.

And when I step to 18s won't I have to do subs forward with port forward above them, in almost a whole wall?
