rescuedabyss
ok so basically I have been seeing a lot and I mean A LOT of ppl telling others "your amp is overrated because it only has x fuses and they are x amps then muliply 10 and thats its power" this is sooo stupid...so an amp with 2 30amp fuses makes 600 watts max apparently lol. haha just the last one I read. ok well if your reading this let me get to the point....fuses have very VERY little to do with an amps ability to collectivly capture and discharge energy, a fuse is simply a over-current or surge-protection feature if you will. yes amps blow fuses all the time when they are over--run but this is mostly due to the fact they start to pull too much power-and to be CLEAR I say power and I mean CURRENT-power is going to remain in the 12-14volt range period...amperage is a measure of current on a line...most of the time its a thermal issue on the fuse popping thing...I hope someone proves me wrong about this...because I have 3 different amps with NO fuses in them that are UNDERRATED they actually make much more power than their model numbers and even specs would lead you to believe. Just because an amp has a set fuse number and amperage it can/does/and is safe for the electrical components inside, does not and never will...except maybe a chinese amp...have any bearing on the circuits ability to change that current its bringing in into a usuable wattage for sound. LZTYBRN
...so an amp with 2 30amp fuses makes 600 watts max apparently lol. Sorry, but this is absolutely true. Of course it's just a rule of thumb, just an estimate. If you want to be accurate, you have to take voltage and efficiency into account. This rule of thumb is assuming a voltage of about 14 and efficiency of about 70%. Let's say those two numbers ARE accurate for a given amp with 2 30A fuses, then 600W WOULD be the absolute most it could give to the speakers. It's simple physics. It's simple physics. cause math is just too difficult. 60 X 14.4 = 864w at 100% efficiency. now taking into account for efficiency, lets say around 75%, you get 648w at exactly 1 ohm. with impedance rise you'd probably see like 50-75% of that LOL. kandiman71874
Do us all a favor. Find a clamp meter and a good DMM, measure ac amperage and ac voltage and let us know what kind of power you are getting. The amount of uninformed knowledge you are trying to sling here is beyond even a dumb asses comprehension. Make a new thread after you get your measurements and realize the error of your explanations.
