john253a Posted August 4, 2012 Report Posted August 4, 2012 in a way there a 1 note wonderbox, if not done 100% correct, there are a few way to do it, all have different outcomes, 1st design/graph what you want, (normally the low ported side is close to max manufactures spec) and use the high ported side to get want you want, and just tune them both as per a normal ported box 2nd, as per 1st but use the exact same size port, but different length 3rd design the low ported side within manufactures spec(within reason like a standard ported box) what ever you the port to be the exact same port, size and length, must be used on the high tune side, but you use the net to raise the tune higher for example all are were modeled for a single vvx 12" with as close to same graph as possible, (2.5net was picked for easy of modeling and flattest response) box 1 2.5net @ 30hz 1x6" aero 29.5" long 1net @ 55hz 1x4" 8.25" long box 2 2.5net @ 30hz 1x6" x 29.5long 1net @ 55hz 1x6" x 20.75long box 3 2.5net @ 30hz 1x6x 29.5long 0.62net @60hz 1x6"x 29.5long
Kevin M Posted August 4, 2012 Report Posted August 4, 2012 I am fascinated by these too. Do they have a narrower freq. band than a 4th? I have heard they have bad group delay too which is why people don't like them for music? I figure a super narrow bandwidth (20-45hz) would be fine as long as I had some midbass that could dig deep enough. john253a Posted August 5, 2012 Report Posted August 5, 2012 Not all subs work with this enclose, But you can get 25hz@0db 70hz@0db With 32@+6 and 55@+6 with less then 1db between the 2 You just have to play around modeling it for a while I like to model them on a few programs first and see if there is any differences, and what ever the average is, is what to build
