MrSkippyJ Posted August 12, 2012 Report Posted August 12, 2012 If under powering a speaker could mess a speaker up, you would mess it up every time you turned the volume down. kl0wn Posted August 12, 2012 Report Posted August 12, 2012 Just don't try to.compensate for less power by cranking the gain...clipping will damage the subs no matter how much power Not 100% true. I had (2) 10" L5's on a ZX300.1 with the gain/bass boost turned all the way up, and never had a single problem for the year I ran them like that. Coils visually looked fine and read fine with the DMM. Since I have sold them, I have known everybody that has owned them and I always looked at the amp and it was all cranked up like when I had it. They are still running to this day, and they are a little over 5 years old. Just sayin... 06 Mini Cooper S Sundown, SoundQubed Cadence, XS Power 151s Sealed 155s Outlaw Windshield @ 37hz
Trey_Dog650 Posted August 12, 2012 Report Posted August 12, 2012 Maybe it doesn't clip with the gain all the way up. I had an alpine mp-500 I think it's called and it didn't distort on my deck with the gain all the way up 13 Kia Forte Build! 07 Hyundai Accent Build ***Super Seller*** N8ball2013 And then he gets to say ok all you guys were right. im sorry for being a dummy poo poo head.
