Just don't try to.compensate for less power by cranking the gain...​clipping will damage the subs no matter how much power

Not 100% true. I had (2) 10" L5's on a ZX300.1 with the gain/bass boost turned all the way up, and never had a single problem for the year I ran them like that. Coils visually looked fine and read fine with the DMM. Since I have sold them, I have known everybody that has owned them and I always looked at the amp and it was all cranked up like when I had it. They are still running to this day, and they are a little over 5 years old.

Just sayin...

Maybe it doesn't clip with the gain all the way up. I had an alpine mp-500 I think it's called and it didn't distort on my deck with the gain all the way up
