box tuned 38hz..not hitting lows ?

so i just got my box/subs put in my truck which are 2 10" Type R's ( 2012 models ) on a hifonics BRZ2400.1D at .5... etc.

the box is a slot ported box and i asked him to tune to 33-35hz, after talking to him he realised one of his numbers were supposed to be '32' and he read it as '23' and it changed the tuning to 38hz he says. well it plays the higher notes pretty awesome, very responsive compared to my old 15's ( 30hz ) but these 10's DO NOT pick up the lows.. the subs move violently on 33hz tone, but i barely hear anything.. my old 15's would rock the truck to that tone.

When i was looking around i heard people would tune to 38-40 and still hit the lower notes just fine.. i haven't changed anything on my amp since i had the 15's.

basically, im wondering what can i do to change it, the guy said next week i can come by and he can drop the tuning a bit.. but im curious as to why 38hz is such a change while playing music.

first off if he screwed up in making your box he should build you another one correctly like you wanted...i assume you paid for this?

What vehicle is it? Id be interested to know the EXACT specs of the Box to know what it's truly tuned to. And math errors do occur, but of I were building someone else's box, I wouldn't let it leave my garage incorrect.

What style box is it? Aero ported, slot, square? I'm curious how he plans to drop the tuning.

yeah i paid for it, but i literally paid like 20$ over the cost of supplies if i was to do it myself, he was building the box for his 2 DD9510's and planned on doing 3 aero ports across and ended up being too short, so he said he'll finish it to fit my subs instead of scraping it, it looks REALLY good and its slot ported between the 2 subs. its built VERY WELL just improper tuning now. he said he can drop the tuning to 35hz just probably not any lower, so i'm curious as to how he'll do that too. either way he said if he can't fix it he will build me a box in the same deal for my 15's which wouldnt be bad at all if you saw my crap box! lol.

Pics of box and style(subs up port up, etc)? Specs? (Pull out a tape measure for this and measure yourself)

Depending on your port shape and port area, you could put some 3/4" mdf shims on the top and bottom of the port to shrink port area and drop tuning

Did you ever think that maybe your subsonic filter may need to be adjusted?

well i assumed it didnt because the sub filter is turned almost all the way down ( which i hope is right? ) and it let my 15's play down low without a problem so i thought i could rule that out, i just took pictures of it but its raining so i will measure the box and get demensions of it later.

He will have rip off the top of the box and take out the l sections of your port and replace them with longer pieces. Good thing he didn't have it totally glued and sealed. My boxes are impossible to get back into when they are done without the MDF itself falling apart. I hope it works put for this poor box in your case. Post some pics and keep us updated on it

he glued and screwed everything, its pretty tight.. lol either way i'll mess around with my sub sonic maybe having it all the way down isn't the right way of adjusting it? hahaha! but regardless it plays all my music fine except my decaf stuff. hell maybe since its tuned higher i can do some burps at the show this weekend.. lol i told him not to cover it ( saves me money ) so i can just rock-guard it.
