MECHMAN
Your fuse should always be greater than your max amperage. Our Mechman alternators are underrated, so if you had one of our 270amp alternators you would need close to a 300 amp fuse. A little cushion goes a long way in preserving your electrical system and stereo components / accessories. I hope this helps. Sheena
i always read fuse for what your wire is rated. so 1/0 should be fused for 300 amps. The factory wires in most cases have fuseable links added in at the factory. I am not certain if this is used anymore on newer cars, but older cars from 90's, and early 2000's had them I know. fecupe2001
I´m not the biggest expert about electricals, is that fuse really necessary? i used an ANL 250A fuse for the line in my suzuki swift wich had a 140A alternator, i ditched that thing and didn´t have any problems at all, that´s why my explorer doesn´t have that fuse either, should i install it? my positive runs from main batt to the batteries on the back does have fuses Quote I´m the SPL Gains topic creator!! wanna get louder?? check this: SPL Gains. aN-i-No
If the fuse ever did blow it would only stop the alternator from charging the battery through the added wire. (Like if you did the big 3, the blown fuse would stop the alternator from charging though your big 3 power wire.) The wire would still be live on both sides though (alternator charging one side, battery hooked up to the other side) and the alternator would still be charging the battery through the stock power wire, unless you've removed it. So there's not a WHOLE lot that a fuse can do in that situation. It makes some people sleep easier at night though
