Skullz Posted August 16, 2012 Report Posted August 16, 2012 Your suffering from fatigue caused by overpowering in the upper frequency range. Lower the level of the tweeters to where they are barely audible and see if you still continue to have the ringing. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2
Stee-Z Posted August 16, 2012 Author Report Posted August 16, 2012 how so ? i have the crossovers made for them..or are you just saying to turn the volume down? Skullz Posted August 16, 2012 Report Posted August 16, 2012 The tweeters are too loud causing you to suffer from fatigue, you will have to eq the higher frequencies down. EDIT: Boston acoustics were notorious for causing the same thing with their comps. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2
Stee-Z Posted August 16, 2012 Author Report Posted August 16, 2012 alright that sounds about right. so once i eq them should they cause substantial damage after long periods of time? Skullz Posted August 16, 2012 Report Posted August 16, 2012 Once you get the levels low enough you'll be fine listening to it for hours on end. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2
Emmet Posted August 16, 2012 Report Posted August 16, 2012 Higher frequencies resonate more in the ear canal, that's why bass doesn't damage ears as much as mids and highs, or why people who play in orchestras for a long time usually have degraded hearing. Might just need some eq'ing or adjusting It's your own hearing you'll have to deal with later on in life, might aswell save every bit you can i shook this one kids hand and it just folded in mine. long story short i fucked his girlfriendso.. yeah.. Kevin M Posted August 16, 2012 Report Posted August 16, 2012 1-4k is notorious for that. (where you're ears are most sensitive) If I didn't eq my horns down in that range they will rip your face off and that's on 30 watts. You can use an eq, try mounting more off axis, or experiment with different x-over points to help. Rolling back the gains a bit will help as well. It's the bane of all high efficiency speakers. 2005 Ford Focus zx4 AMT's and Planars 18" Infinite baffle
