Looks good. Just do the reg 270 mechman for just your batts and amps. Then keep the stock alt on a dual bracket for the rest of your truck

Well, after borrowing Mitch's AQ 18s, I still was unable to break 150s, legal, sealed TL. But I did get lots of playing around time this weekend to experiment with things.

First off, a big thanks to Chris (Snowdrifter) for having his TL available all weekend for anyone who wanted to use it. Secondly, thanks to Mitch (mrd6) for loaning me the AQ subs to see if I could gain some SPL with them. I did, in fact gain with them and it may have been the difference between 1st and 2nd place for me in Rookie SUV. With just one of the AQ3 18" DVC 1ohm subs hooked to my RF T2500 at .5 ohm. I managed a best score of 147.0 on music while competing in IASCA idbl Rookie SUV class. This class limits me to an OEM alternator, 1 battery, 1 amp, just one run of 1/0, and 1 18" sub. This CF box is a bit on the small side for two 18s, but it's a swimming pool for one 18 at 11 cubic feet net. All I did to the box to compete was cap off the extra sub hole. I didn't experiment with adding any ballast to the inside of the box to shrink the size.

My first run in competition was a 146.5. I was a bit disappointed, but I knew I had more in it. Made a few changes, came back to the lanes a while later and made my second run. It was the 147.0 mentioned above. Both runs were good enough for first place as the second place competitor had only managed a 146.0.

Then it was play time......I removed the plug from the box and installed the other borrowed AQ sub in the search for the elusive 150!!! Unfortunately, the best legal sealed score I could manage was a 148.8 on 37hz tone, which is the same peak I had with the window down on one AQ 18. BTW, the RF amp is now wired to .25 ohm and handling it beautifully for quick burps. I'm guessing that with the major amount of box rise I had measured the previous day, I may have only been actually seeing .75 ohm or thereabouts. I don't have the electrical to back up more than about 3 seconds at full volume before the amp goes into protect, so no worries about it getting overheated from the load. Then I gave it a shot with the window 1/2 way down and all the way down. Best I could muster was a 149.4 with the window 1/2 way down.

I missed my goal by a bit, but that's ok. I've got big plans for the future of this box. I'd like to try to put some really powerful subs in it next year and see if I can blow it apart on about 4x the power. I'm thinking IASCA idbl Stock Pro 2 class next year. In the mean time, I need to go put my RE subs back in the box and install my new DC alt and XS D3100. I held off to stay in the rookie class for this event and I'm anxious to get this stuff installed so my amp stops going into protect on me.

Ok, so I haven't updated this thread in a while. Not much going on, but I did get a wild hair up my ass one day and decided to build myself a simple amp rack. Pics are grainy because I took them with my iPad in the dark. Tried to light it up with a flashlight, but it barely helped. I'll take new pics next week when I get the amp installed on it. Going out of town this week, so I won't get any further than this for more than a week. I did the rack as simply and quickly as I could, so I suppose I could have done a better job. It's the same 1-1/4" MDF material as the box, wrapped in 3 layers of carbon fiber. I didn't add a glossy top coat yet, just because I was thinking of leaving this piece with a matte finish for contrast. Still not sure if I like it or not. Rack is bolted through the floor into the stock cargo tie-down holes with longer bolts. Should be enough room on this piece to put two RF T2500s side by side without being in front of the port more than 3/4", or I could put two T2500s on each side for a total of four if I tilt each amp 30-45 degrees and mount them one in front of the other.

Sorry again for the shitty pics....

Also, I got the XS Power D3100 mounted in the factory under hood location and the DC Power 270a alt put in. Just started putting in my Shok 1/0 wire and pulling out the smaller stuff that had me hitting 149.4. Hoping I'm over 150 now! It sure SOUNDS louder to my ears!
