qcbangin
I bought a sub from a fellow member on here. It was shipped usps and I received it today. The box was smashed all to hell. Half the tape holding the box closed was already off. I opened the box and the sub was half laying on its side. Took it out knowing something was going to be messed up. Sure enough the mounting lip is bent up. My question is, how do I straighten the lip. If its not possible, how do I get a good seal around it? Ddub847
how badly is it bent?
qcbangin
Its bent pretty good. Its bent down so when I put the sub in the box one side sticks up enough to get a screwdriver under it. I have pics, but I'm on mobile and don't know how to upload. scoobywrx05
Is it cast or a stamped basket? A pic would probably help. Tell the person you got it off of that there is a little sticky in the for sale section bout how to ship a sub. Sorry your speaker is messed up bro. qcbangin
I'm not really sure on the difference. Its a skar ivx. I've already let him know about the damage. Haven't heard back from him yet, which is why I wont put his name out there. Yet.
n8ball2013
dotn do a thing to it until he has a chance to make this right. hopefully he has insurance becaus if they managed to bend the basket there may be more issues than just that. qcbangin
Thanks for chiming in n8. I'm just going to leave the sub alone for now and wait for his response. I'm going to go check the sub and make sure it works. I really doubt there was insurance put on it. It was shipped usps with there cheapest shipping. dotn do a thing to it until he has a chance to make this right. hopefully he has insurance becaus if they managed to bend the basket there may be more issues than just that. qcbangin
Ya. I think i can get it to work, tho. If I can't get it airtight, I'm just going to use weather stripping around it. The sub still seems to be 100% functional.

Wouldn't play a sub with a bent rim for the same reason I wouldn't play a speaker with a bent rim. It will cause distortion and potentially damage the woofer. I doubt yours is damaged badly enough to hurt it but I wouldn't play on it. Have the seller make it right! If the bend hasn't moved the surround, you should be A-OK, ignore me.
