Mr.JaunDurfle
Is there a big difference in sound quality of bass from 2 ohm to 1 ohm? I have an AA Mayhem 12" that I'm going to run off a DC 5.0k at two ohms. I want to get a smaller amp, maybe around 3000 watts so I have some extra power, but I need to know if I would sacrifice sound quality by going to a 1 ohm load. Skullz
No it won't, your enclosure will play a greater role than the ohm load in quality. Quote 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2

Mr.JaunDurfle
Not 5000 watts to the sub. Right now the amp is seeing a 2 ohm load, so at that load DC rates the 5k at 2300 watts nominal. I want to downsize my amp, but run a 1 ohm load at around 3000 watts to the sub. I know I'd either need a re-cone or new sub to do it. I just want some more power to compensate for rise. I've never run at 1 ohm so I didn't know of the sound would be degraded to the point of not sounding good on music. ds1919
depends on the amp, if it can run at 1. Mine runs way better on 1 than any other impedance fwiw.
