So im looking for a design for 2 sundown audio sa 12's D4 on a hifonics brz 1700 in my ford focus zx3 hatchback. I would like the the subs and port( if one is needed) to be pointed up. My max demensions are 22" high, 34" wide and 16.5" deep. I would like the box to come up to my back seats for a good look and finish. My goals for this box are to really hit the lows and not take away the ability to play anything from 30hz to 50hz. A like to play slowed music and heavy bass rap. I first went to PWK for a design but im not sure about the cost for a design from him. So any advice would be great. Full designs would be awesome also. I designed my box for my current sub (got very loud), and one for the 2 sa 12s, but i want to have this setup get as loud as possible!

Your not going to get low and good numbers

For sq idd do 3.7net at 27-28hz

And the highest idd tune to stay musical in my opinion is 37hz

So anywhere around 32-35hz should be where you'd want to aim for low'n'loud

Yea i was thinking about doing an L port and tuning it to 32hz with about 60 suqare inches of port area with 4 cubes of air. Then i got to thinking.... how about start with a sealed box with a littlle more than 4 cubes of air space, then part the two subs about 6-8 inches away from eachother and in the middle, cut a rectangle 6inches wide and 12 inches tall, then i can make interchangable ports! let know how that idea would work out

That should be pretty close to what you want. Note that the height dimension in the sketchup does not account for the lid which adds .75" thus making it 20" tall.

I figure joeX or john will chime in if i am totally off on this. But your dimensions are almost exactly the same as mine.

Edit,

i just noticed you want subs up port up. I know my honda hatch isn't the same as your hatch, but general rule of thumb is either subs up port back or both back in a hatch. and my car is super peaky if i run subs and port up. I don't know if your car will do this too. Do you have some clearance behind the box if you have 17" of depth?

The previous Torres version calculates port displacement more accurately than the new one.
