its all about torque and bigger engines have the torque

gas mileage will not matter on a fixed up car. who has ever seen a vtech honda fast as hell with just the driver but suck balls with passengers? i have and its funny when they think they can beat me and i leave them on the light

haha, ohhh how i hate the occasional V-Tec. and yes, i have seen that happen, more than once.

thats what im saying. weight will hurt performance in a small engine sooner than what a bigger engine will

Even if the small engine is pushing as much horses and torque as the big engine?

it will never make the same torque. and horse power dont make it fast its the torque

Go with the v8.

have you heard a cammed V6 with headers, x-pipes, and a decent exhaust (what i have minus it being cammed) can you say heavenly? it sounds like a V8

lol no v6 will ever sound like a v8 just like a small block v8 will sound like a big block v8.. its like saying a 10' subs sound louder than a 18' sub (being same brand same power)

let me rephrase *clears throat* a cammed V6 has the potential to sound like a stock V8

it's not all about the torque, it's finding a good balance between the 2, otherwise people wouldn't try to improve both. But a turbo V6 has been known to be able to put UP TO around 320 RWHP/ 345 ft lbs of torque. not to say my car would, but it has the ability to, hell the stock V6 block can take up to 350 HP with a few minor upgrades to the fuel system.

You will spend much more modding a V6 to get it equal in power to a V8(I'm talking Mustang application specific). The V6 is going to be a temperamental whore the more and more you do to it.

The V8 is the only way to go. As previously stated, the gas mileage won't make any difference on either motor that is heavily modded.

I have nothing against a quick V6 but unless you have unlimited resources(money) you're gonna pay to play to get it fast.

damn guys, my mind is slowly, very slowly changing....i mean yes, there's a bit of money sunk into it, but a v-8 and tranny swap is fairly cheap

niceeee, i was just seing advantages and disadvantages to them, but the biggest factor for now was gas mileage and the wow factor of a fast V6

depending on the weight of the car, v6's can have some hussle to them. But if it is a light weight car and a v8.... fun fun fun.

my opinion...

Truck, burban, or anything of this size = V8

sedan, coupes, lexus rx330 stuff = V6

dad has 2 lincolns that have v8s (same as the GM truck V8s) and them bitches haul and get 24mpg highway which i think is good for a v8, my truck gets probably 15mpg and is a v8 also.

that's amazing for a V8, it's about what my car gets now, but the Mustang is definatelyyyyy NOT a light car whatsoever.
