well lets look at this question honestly

Price- dollar for dollar a v8 will have more power potential than a v6 any day of the week (no replacement for displacement)

Gas mileage- who cares if your building it up your an idiot to care about this more power= more fuel end of story

Turbos- sure a turbo 6 can be fast but turbos are expensive and a v8 will be faster than an equally built v6 when both are turbo'd (the v8 will already put down more power with similar upgrades prior to the turbo) plus more displacement with the same amount of boost is a recipe for a hell of a lot more power plus that brings your peak hp/tq down to a much more usable rpm range

Reliability- the higher the displacement of the v8 will mean it will be a hell of a lot more reliable than an equally powerful v6 because it wont have to be as built to make those numbers.

Maintenance- no question here the v6 will be a bitch to take care of (the more built you go the higher maintenance it will be)

Power- once again dollar for dollar the v8 will be more powerful and easier to build (v6 builds arent overly popular so less off the shelf parts), and again you will see more power potential from the v8

and finally since your a ford guy remember the carroll shelby rule of racing - lightest car with the biggest engine. so make the car as light as possible and build the biggest motor you can...youll thank me later

go for it. 1st off, you couldnt get past the gate. second, i wouldnt even hear your system inside my house. third, i would just turn mine up and drown out your system, eat my skittles, and laugh at your pathetic ass.

Sooo, had to make a new thread for this, but what's everyone's opinion on building up and turboing a V6 compared to building up a V8 (to possibly be turboed later on). What are the pros and cons? What are the cost benefits to either? How will my gas be affected (is still a daily driver for now)? And what's everyone's general input on the idea?

If you are looking for a power house i would go V8 because they have parts more readily available and 9x out of 10 the stock v8 will produce more power off the bat then the v6... If you want to build a beast then the last thing on your mind should be GAS mileage bro because monster motors and fuel efficiency dont really coincide with each other... Just my .02

As I have read through this. You want the engine to be a Ford to match your Ford Mustang. Do a engine conversion, Go find a 90's model Explorer or Foxbody Stant and rip out that 302 H.O Block. It's easy and I'm sure it will be a direct fit. Everyone and their mother makes performance parts for 302's. I'm saving up the money to do that in my Ranger.

I've looked up an engine swap from the fox body to the new edge, it will take a shit load of modding to get it to work with the new edge style for reasons I don't exactly remember. It would be quite a project, but I'm thinking the one of the cobra small blocks might suit me well enough. The supercharged one anyways. It's basically what I'm looking for and is basically plug and play since it works with my body type.

This is a forum that deals with awesome sounds.

Go with the v8.

have you heard a cammed V6 with headers, x-pipes, and a decent exhaust (what i have minus it being cammed) can you say heavenly? it sounds like a V8

lol no v6 will ever sound like a v8 just like a small block v8 will sound like a big block v8.. its like saying a 10' subs sound louder than a 18' sub (being same brand same power)

let me rephrase *clears throat* a cammed V6 has the potential to sound like a stock V8

Yes I've heard a "cammed v6" and it sounds like a rice burner. Put that kind of exhaust work and a nice cam into a v8 and tell me what that sounds like.

As far as saying that any kind of work on a v6 sounds like a v8, you're wrong again. This thread has become :deadhorse:

Get the damn v8.

Here

That's what a V8 sounds like.

Gonna have to say you're wrong about a V6 not being able to sound like a V8, I've heard decent V6's, but its been decided....I'll post a pic of the engine I'm looking at getting
