BassJunkie
Ok so I bought an 2000 e450 with a 7.3L power stroke. Ran fine on the 2 hour drive home, parked it in my driveway. Have started it about every week or so to keep everything moving while it awaits my upcoming build. Here's a video of my issue: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6AYAC4RuLM&feature=plcp Starts and idles fine, no smoke. About half throttle it stutters and then turbo starts spooling followed by white smoke. White smoke smells like raw diesel. This is going to sound extremely dumb but when the vans off and you push the pedal to the floor it feels soft at first then it feels like its hard at half throttle (where the problem starts) almost like a second cable is engaged at half throttle. Is there some sort of valve or something thats supposed to open at half throttle? Please no "its a ford" crap, and if you don't know a thing about diesels keep your fingers off the keyboard. 1986 C20 Suburban 9 American Bass XFL 15's B2 M1MKII 14v XS Power Batteries Maxwell Caps Acoustical energy is free. Ballen194
White smoke occurs when raw diesel comes through the exhaust completely intact and unburned. Some causes of this include… Faulty or damaged injectors Incorrect injection timing (could be a worn timing gear or damaged crankshaft keyway). Low cylinder compression (eg caused by leaking or broken valves, piston ring sticking, cylinder and/or ring wear, or cylinder glaze) 98 Isuzu Rodeo Pioneer Deh-6300ub SUBS*Upcoming* SSA Xcon 18 4th order AMP Banda 3500 Mids/Highs Pioneer EQ Clarion EQS746 ETC. 79Bronco
Those old 7.3's are notorious for having injector problems around 200k. Unfortunately the only way to be sure is to open her up.
