Jay L.
Unlikely, because the computer is gonna pick that up and correct for it. Most likely your egr is leaking coolant into the intake, or you have blown headgaskets, bad injector(s), your injector driver control module is bad. Or a combo of more than one of these. If I remember correctly the IDCM on the 7.3's is pretty cheap. Unless your unemployed, your time is valuable, a $50-$100 tow bill, and a $100 to hook your truck up at ford is still cost effective, just saying. Good luck though! CleanSierra
Hey, I'm sure you're aware of this, but I'll put it out there in case you don't know. Diesel file systems are HIGHLY pressurized. Please be careful if you're fucking around with the fuel lines or injectors. Ive seen guys slice themselves when taking a fuel line off from the pressurized FIRE hose powered stream of fuel. Just my .02. I believe you have an injector issue as well, for what it's worth. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
scoobywrx05
7.3 don't have a common rail fuel system like most other diesel motors . The fuel pressure after the pressure pump on top of the motor should be around 68lbs . The oil in the motor is the same oil that runs the high pressure oil pump that runs the injectors. 7.3s don't have a egr cooler like the 6.0 . R James Trapp
get it to operating temp, then see what it does. most diesels will smoke a little when cold. also ckeck the air cleaner, make sure its not plugged. the cam sensor is also known to go out on the powerstrokes.
