MatthewBigBossWilliams Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 I am just curious as to what the difference between aero port and slot ports really are. I am trying to fit 2 15in FI BTL's in the trunk of a 2001 Ford Focus sedan and I dont think I have the proper room for them. so I am curious as to what the difference is other then you save space. Also refrain from turning this into a vs. post please!
412 CVX Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 haha good luck with that. Just say no to Ground Pounder Customs. My temp system build log More box buildssome cars do over 170db with one sub, so clearly my two 12"s can do that in my car, with my knowledge too! look out bitches! I'm with captain stupid.
Skullz Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 Efficiency From worst to best, Slot, Round and finally aero port. Slots have corners that are dead spots for air to try to flow through, round ports are more efficient in it has no dead spots and allows for 100% flow of air through it, aero ports are rounded at the front and back to allow for a greater volume of air to move through it efficiently. That was a very simplistic breakdown. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2
MatthewBigBossWilliams Posted August 31, 2012 Author Report Posted August 31, 2012 That was actually a pretty good breakdown Skullz. For my application, which would you suggest based on opinion?
Skullz Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 Depends on the amount of room you have to play with and your ability in box building. Most people are put off by round ports cause they simply don't understand them and how to use them. With slot ports you want around 16" per cf of net space, with round ports you can drop down to around 12" per cf of net space and with aero ports you can go down to 9" per cf of box space but each sub will want more or less depending on it's t/s specs. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2
