ReeseChamp Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 All this car audio stuff is brand new to me so I dont know much I need a complete setup (sub(s),door speakers, stereo, amp(s),wires, ect.) Jessica Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 Well, i wont go into all your equipment listed but. That box has a what looks like 2" wide X 16" deep port. The pics show it terminating before the back of the box and since the box is 18" deep, the port is shorter than that. Pluggin that box into torres gives about 40hz tuning with less than 12" sq/ft port area. I would build your own box if you can or find a better pre-fab. That is a lot of money for one 15" speaker. If thats what you want i'm sure it you will be happy, Fosgate makes good stuff. Someone will probably recommend a different brand. That mono amp is fused for 80ams, I can't say for sure but i would guess you may see 1kw at 1ohm at best, probably 750w. I don't know a lot about crunch amps, but thats my opinion. The rest looks fine to me, that stuff is all going to be opinion anyway. 150 is a lofty number, but hey i heard a guy hit 150's with sony explodes so i guess its possible. WastedTalent Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 Depending on the vehicle that's going in, there's no way that'll hit 150 or anything remotely close. And after looking at the enclosure, no way jose. Prefab boxes are garbage. Since you say you don't know much, what I recommend (as I'm sure others will definitely chime in and possibly say other things) is either learn how to make your own box (the preferred method) or find someone in your area to do it or you. And not talking about your best buy geek squad or whatnot, I mean a member of the forum you can meet up with or a friend who is into car audio and can do it. The amp (at least for me) a no name brand. I've never heard of Crunch. I'd rather do something else. If you want an amp that'll for sure do it, look into crescendo, sundown audio, and other top of the line stuff. They'll not only do your sub, but will allow for upgrades. Yeah they cost more, but...they're proven. Everyone who knows car audio knows those names. If they say things like "Sundown Audio must suck cause I've never heard of them", then they don't know audio. And there really isn't a "best" out there. All about what suits your needs. As for the speakers, I'm not sure as I'm not a speaker guy. They're sure better than stock, but how good? No idea. For the speakers amp, I'd go with the Rockford Fosgate T400. Double the price but will power most (if not all) speakers out there today. The stereo/head unit.. well, doesn't matter really. If that's what you want, go for it. But basically for $1000? You won't be ANYWHERE near 150db depending on the vehicle. I have 2 T1's (not 15 inch) in a lancer and to be quite honest, would never enter a competition cause don't think I'm anywhere near those numbers. Never hooked it up to see where I'm at on the db scale though. Could be close, but could be super far away. If you want 150db, it'll take time, effort, money, and patience. All my opinion though. As duck said, anything is possible. Sheena = pedobear
HunterJohnson Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 Crunch is a brand they sell at frys electronics. It's the lowest level of the maxxsonics amps. They work but the build quality is shit and I wouldn't even dd-1 it if a friend asked me too lol! Skullz Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 4 sa 12's used 2 ap 3k's used Lots and lots of batteries. Don't think you could get that all for under 1k but it is possible and should do a 150 in an optimum enclosure but who knows, maybe it will and maybe it won't. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2
Guest Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 150 constant on music? or burp? theres a BIG difference.
kl0wn Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 But basically for $1000? You won't be ANYWHERE near 150db Soo.... I spent just a little over $1,000 and I burped a 149? I am more than positive I could easily burp a 150 if I didn't have box flex/leak issues with my current box. 06 Mini Cooper S Sundown, SoundQubed Cadence, XS Power 151s Sealed 155s Outlaw Windshield @ 37hz
