Ok so what ohm was it running at before when the subs just had the positives and negatives straight to the amp?

Its hard to tell. It all depends on if you had them wired to the 8 ohm or 2 ohm plug on the sub. If you wired in parallel, they were either at 4 ohms or 1 ohm.

OP, how do you have them wired now? Are they on the 2 ohm setting, and wired in parallel to the amp? If so, your wired at 1 ohm.

They are on the 2ohm setting. THey sound like shit with it wired pos and neg of one sub to the other sub and then wires coming out of the sub to the amp resulting in 1 pos wire and 1 neg wire to my amp.

Before when they sounded decent each sub were just plugged straight in from the pos and neg terminals to the amp resulting in 2 pos wires and 2 neg wires to the amp

Each had the ohm switch at 2ohms...

When there's only 1 pos and 1 neg going to your amp, you have them wired 2 1 ohm. 2 pos and 2 neg, means you had it wired to 4 ohms. Pics of your amp, model number, brand, etc.

EDIT: Return it back to the way you had it cause most likely you had it wired for 1ohm.

How does it get 1ohm with the switch on 2ohm and have 2 pos and 2 neg wires to the amp

Set both subs switches to the 2 ohm setting and connect the wires at the amp in parallel for your final 1 ohm load to the amp.
