8ight
OK, you need to perform the Big 3 upgrade and everyone is obviously telling you this. Basically the "Big 3" refers to 2 grounds and a charge lead. These cables are your engine block to battery ground, your battery to chassis/frame ground, and your alternator to battery charge lead. You need to run pieces of 1/0 gauge cable between your engine block and battery, chassis and battery and alternator output stud to battery. You can buy decent 1/0 cable at a lot of places, I recommend Knukonceptz brand cable since it is oversized and super flexible, it also carries the right price tag. Once you do the "Big 3 Upgrade" you will need to be sure you have grounded your amp to a good location, please provide a picture of where it is grounded to now. This way we can verify that it is grounded properly or not and if not provide a suggestion as to where to ground it. Also it would be wise to eliminate the capacitor, they do nothing but strain your electrical system even more as capacitors do little more than suppress voltage change which sounds good in theory but doesn't work in practice as they add resistance and eat current. Here is an excellent paper on capacitors in car audio and why you DON'T need one if you care to educate yourself before taking the advice of a stranger: http://www.glasswolf.net/papers/nocaplesson.html Report back once you do the "Big 3 Upgrade" and have a photo of your ground and I will be glad to assist you further! Depends on your current demands on wether or not the big 3 will help i like your wording. "difference in voltage potential" that explains it very well. if you understand how electricity flows that makes sense. 8ight
Measure the lengths of your grounds then order the apropriate amount of cable. Knukonceptz KCA is cheaper. I'm gonna hate
Crandis16
sounds weird, but when I put a ground from alt case to batt (-) I saw more improved voltage too after the big 3. I also have a 14-YO car so the grounds kinda get shitty after a while My Red zx2 Build Log My Black zx2 Build Log My Red zx2 UBL
