MD7786
I have a jl 1000/1 pushing a 1200 rms 15 built by team psi. I have a yellow under hood and in trunk (only cause I get them cheap) and my volts are dropping to 11.5 while full tilt. No system sitting at 13.7 to 14.0. I also have a 2 fared cap. I looked at a diff amp cause I heard my amp pulls a lot from alt. Stock alt also. I am wanting to do the big 3 this weekend but wondered if it would pull my volts up noticeably and if cap is also a factor in low volts. Another yellow in trunk. Can't afford a ho alt? Kranny
is that 11v when you're idling? i hope to god you're not playing full tilt while idling. cause thats fucking idiotic to do with a stock alt. do the big 3, and get rid of the cap. are you using 4 gauge wiring right now? RooTxBeeR
With all the money you probably spent on the caps and batteries, you could have a good H/O Alt. Yes the big 3 will help you, and like #3, take out the caps. MD7786
Thanks. No its 0 gauge and not idleing. It's in the 11s while driving and bumping. And so only way for volts to be higher would be a alt. All agree?
Kranny
yes. a new alt is the only way to get higher voltage. anything under 12.6-ish means that your alt is being used 100% and your stereo/whatever is now draining the batteries as well.
