superdave07 Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 I'm getting ready to build an enclosure for my 4 12'' HDC4 12s. I am currently running the HDC3 models. I have had great luck with these woofers. However im wanting to re design the enclosure. I will be putting 2krms each to these woofers. Does anyone have a recommendation on air space or port volume? I plan to shoot for 1.6cubes per woofer and 16" v2 of port. If anyone has had any experience with these woofers feel free to chime in. I'm aiming to be tuned in the 32 area. thanks in advance! there will be a build log for this... Xterra * 69 Camaro * Audi S5 36 Ford * 51 Mercury looking for wire sponsor www.flyracing.com
AMI CUSTOMS Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 AQ demo scion has the HDC4 12s off an AQ3500D.1 at .25 ohm daily, but I can't remember the specs of the box. I want to say it is like 16 sq of port per cube tuned to 30 hz with 4 cubes net for a pair of 12s. superdave07 Posted September 8, 2012 Author Report Posted September 8, 2012 Thanks AMI. I emailed AQ just asking what they recommend. I think im going to get 1.6cubes per woofer after dispacement. And 16sq of port. Should do the trick. I'll post some pics and we will find out lol Xterra * 69 Camaro * Audi S5 36 Ford * 51 Mercury looking for wire sponsor www.flyracing.com
RAM_Designs Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 1.6ft^3 per sub seems awfully small if you're just using rated power on them...and once you take into consideration voltage drop, box rise, and the fact that you're listening to music, you won't be putting anywhere near 2kw to each sub. Just my opinion though, never been a fan of small boxes unless you running an abnormal amount of power and want to be able to put that power to it when needed. superdave07 Posted September 8, 2012 Author Report Posted September 8, 2012 I agree 100% ram. I would rather throw 2.0ft^3 per sub honestly. I just don't have the room. Trying to squeeze all four of these subs behind the seat of my 95 Integra. As of now i am sitting at 7.7 cubes after total displacement. but its only tuned to 35. hoping to get a little lower tuning. It slams with the HDC3s in there now. We'll see how big of a box i can build. Xterra * 69 Camaro * Audi S5 36 Ford * 51 Mercury looking for wire sponsor www.flyracing.com
AMI CUSTOMS Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 IMO I would swap to 2 HDC4 15 off same amp tune to whatever you want. superdave07 Posted September 13, 2012 Author Report Posted September 13, 2012 If i had the extra cash right now i would probably do that. Running two XTA4000 amps it would be nice to run two HDC415s at 1ohm each. Plus i'd have the room for them. We'll see what happens im not in a hurry for this build, still rockin the HDC3s right now Xterra * 69 Camaro * Audi S5 36 Ford * 51 Mercury looking for wire sponsor www.flyracing.com
