How to wire multiple batteries?

Recommended Posts

Just run parallel, + to +, - to -.

For the fusing, the safest way is to put a fuse between each battery. Me personally, I would only fuse the long run of the front to rear, then keep the rear 2 batteries non-fused.

that's what I planned on doin, looks nicer imo

Connect all the positives to positives and negatives to negative, parallel. If you don't want to do a negative run from front to back do the big 3 up front and make sure you find a good spot to ground in the back. You need to put a fuse within 18" of of the batteries in the front and the back.

I'm doing a run of + and - from the front, no need to ground in the back. And if i put 2 batts in the back, should I have a fuse before the first one and inbetween then 1st and 2nd one, or just 1 right before the 1st one?

mmm if your batteries are really close in the back (like a foot away) its "okay" to not fuse in between a lot of people don't but its extra protection against shorts

Also, is it okay for me to run an s3400 up front and a redtop in the back, just until i can get some d1200's that is?

I'd just fuse the + run from the front to rear run. Both ends, as close to the batteries as possible.

Unless your rear two batteries are spaced out a decent bit, if they're right next to each other no need to fuse them imo

Like this, front battery----fuse----------------------------fuse----rear battery.

If you don't do the second fuse and you have a short in the middle of your run the front fuse will blow but the rear batteries are still going to be shorting out and you'll have a car-b-que

I know, that's why i went ahead and already ordered an extra fuse holder and 300 amp fuse for when the time does come, might as well have it all run and ready to go so i can just stick the batteries in and be ready to roll....after a good charge that is

As long as the red top is a sealed battery which I believe it is you'll be fine. The second fuse is a good investment even if you buy a fancy fuse block and a name brand fuse $50 is a lot cheaper than a new ride :)

Stinger all the way babyyy, hell yeah :D Almost all my stuff has something in the car that's brand matched. And I guess I'll run the redtop for now, although i need a cheap bass amp.....recommendations? Preferably something that can put out around 600 watts at 2 ohms.

I'm doing a run of + and - from the front, no need to ground in the back.

If you have a few extra feet of wire, and a good place to ground in the back, might as well add the ground (in addition to the negative run). It's only a bit of wire and terminals, but it could cut the resistance on the negative path down by half or more, depending on the car.

got 50 ft of stinger hpm and 10 terminals for now, 20 more on there way since darvex screwed up my order.

I have a hifonics mono block in my closet in like new condition bxi1206d I believe. I'd let it go cheap, if your interested shoot me a pm and we can work something out.
