Orion xtr pro Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 i have a 2002 f250 super duty diesel with 2 batteries under the hood that have 850 CCA. i plan on getting a dc audio 5k amp to power 2 15inch XL subs. would my stock batteries and adding 3 kinetic batteries, in the back next to the amp, be enough to power the amp to its full 5,000 watts. or would i have do a Big 3 Upgrade to be able to achieve a 14.4 volts from the batteries. any suggestions for the best setup, to get the full 5,000 watts from the amp, are welcomed. thank you, Brandon
Chris Hammer Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 You should get an H/O alternator. Doing the big 3 will help but only a little. For 5k yoou should look at adding maybe 1-2 kinetiks and getting a H/O alt instead of the 3rd battery. Guest Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 you NEED a high output alt. no ifs ands or buts edit: stock alt is 105 amps i believe.
Chris Hammer Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 We recommend for installation • 1 upgraded battery under the hood • 1 extra 800ci battery in the rear • Minimum of two 0 awg ran from the front battery to the rear battery • Both 0 awg power and ground inputs on amp must have 0 awg ran to them for a total of 4 runs into the amp • Upgraded aftermarket alternator • Dash mounted voltage meter DC WEBSTIE MY BUILD *****http://tinyurl.com/gmcbuild***** Vehicles 2005 GMC Canyon CB1000r - Currently where any future funds are going.
