79Bronco Posted September 14, 2012 Report Posted September 14, 2012 This is my 1979 Ford Bronco. It's got a 400, T18 (4speed), 205 (2 speed gear driven selectable with low range) 'Tis quite a beast. Anyway here are the before pics. Yes, that's quite a ridiculous ass she's got there. I've since cut it off and replaced it with just a small piece of steel. Since I'm a college kid, I knew the easiest way to lift this old turd was to piece together my own lift kit. I started with 4" Rancho springs and shocks for the front. I picked the coils up secondhand along with a handful of other parts for very cheap. To fix the steering issues, I got a dropped pitman arm from JBG (popular old bronco parts site) and a drop trac bar bracket. Here it is on roller tires after the front end got picked up. The rollers are about 28 inches tall, the pictures before are of the truck with 35's. And here's the ass end getting picked up. I went with some 6" pro-comp springs for the rear and removed a leaf to balance it out. Re-used the factory shims on the axle and picked up all new grade 8 hardware to keep it in place. Some longer brake lines came next. She sat much nicer after the lift. Here she is with the 35s back on. And here is the nitty gritty pics of all the parts. Excuse the mess under the truck; it has since been cleaned, sanded, and painted. It looks much nicer now. Enjoy! If you have any questions/ comments/ criticisms, let's hear em! It's a Tie Rod End flip with 1.5 DOM .250 tubing. Pretty beefy stuff. How much did that whole lift cost you? Like that solid axle flex for sure! that thng is a monster!! Might have to get me one of these too!!
79Bronco Posted December 16, 2012 Author Report Posted December 16, 2012 I did the whole lift on a budget for about 600 bucks. most of that cost was in the new shocks. I want to redo it. The front springs are too stiff and I'd like to replace them with the deavers on broncograveyard. A matching deaver pack for the rear would be nice too, but it does okay for now. Please tell me you don't drive that truck for deliveries cause that would get expensive quick in gas. formerly known as Blue86f150 its a 4th order just because its tuned in the 40z doesnt mean it wont reach down and jiggle your balls at sub 30 hz frequencies. Regardless if they were dipped platinum and were stuffed in Beyonce's twat.....way too fucking exspensive this sux camel dicks

I used to deliver pizza in a very small town, and I'd usually just leave the truck at the store if there was ever a huge order (think 200+ pizzas). The best delivery I've ever taken it on was a high school senior cheer leading convention. Literally hundreds of senior high school girls oogling over my truck loving that shit. That day alone justified the amount of money I've dumped into this crap wagon.
