ALPINE408 Posted September 18, 2012 Report Posted September 18, 2012 Me and nick aka ndstang had this convo a few times he never understood why I would put a 12k on some mayhems or DC xl's his argument was they just don't need that much power and I agree BUT I put it to him this way overhead is alllways good you can allways tune down for the subs in question then his argument was why if your not using the power anyways my reply was I have so much overhead I can build it the way I want and no matter the box rise oor voltage drop I had the power to power the subs to there full potintial Instead of getting a 2000 watt rms sub and a 2000 rms amp having ohm rise and voltage drop and now only feeding my 2000 watt sub only 1000 watts I do not recommend this tho only if you know what your doing and have a clear understanding of what's going onand how to set up an amp Have you ever had your woofers blown?

To answer the original question, 500 watts probably wouldn't be too big of a difference. 1000 watts would. i do like the ns-1's just heard the first batch had some problems and dont wanna be faced with those going from my skar 1500 to saz 3500 was a HUGE leap same subs SA-12's ill be goin from my 1500 to a 3500 as well, but it'll be on 2 10's instead of 1 12, so i should see quite a bit of a gain.
