Halostryker
I'm building a behind the seat box for a single cab Chevy for a friend of mine, he will be putting two 10inch Sony explodes in it, and I was wondering if 12.3 square inches of port area is enough. It looks a bit on the small side to me. Any input would be great
Guest
12.3 square inches of port total? not per cube? how big is the box internally? thats what we need to know
Halostryker
The port shape is weirdly shape so the port area I'm referring to it the port opening. The tuning freq. Is 31.98hz. I port displacement is 0.34ft3 net volume is 1.55ft3r. Gross volume is 1.89ft3. Port volume is 0.13ft3. And the length of the port is 18 inches
Guest
pictures of the box? "weird port shape" worries me. you dont have enough port area for that box.
NT_Hardcore
port area is more based on volume than sub size. it goes deeper but we can start here- so the volume is needed. odd shaped ports normally dont fair out so well.
Halostryker
The port is gonna come out of the side of the box so it's going to be a wedge shape I on my phone and can't upload picture at this time

Joe X
Some 10" Sony subs have 4mm Xmax, I would sell those subs asap.
bkolfo4
port area is more based on volume than sub size.. WRONG!!! 2 10" subs with 4mm Xmax will not need much port area! Current system: 1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s Previous systems: 2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz. 1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz. Cashdollar2009
Sony XPlods perform better in sealed boxes honestly. Not my personal experience. Just experienced friends who felt the need to waste some money on used Sony XPlods and make a day of it testing. Honestly, sell them to someone local for $100.00, add another $50.00 and you can buy a single sub that will outperform those two Sony's combined in every aspect.
