One Way Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 I have a soundstream dtr 4 channel, it has a button you press down to give you the option between 4ch or 2ch. If i press the button so i can run 4ch i get alt whine in the back 2 chs, but not in the front 2chs. If i press it so the amp runs as a 2 ch, alt noise goes away. Only downside of running the 2ch option is that all 4 speakers are just left and right configuration, i dont get the staging i would get from a 4ch. can this be caused by a bad ground? because i must admit i dont have it in a good place. Is it possible that the amps output rcas are bad? sort of like the headunits blowing out their pico fuse. I need suggestions from you guys. T-line build- http://www.stevemead...e-t-line-build/

poorfish88 Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 16. Input mode switch This function is for switching the rear channels' signal path. When switched to 4CH, all 4 RCAs inputs are required. When switched to 2CH, the rear channels get their signal input from the front channels in parallel. I pulled that from the manual. So I'd guess if you have 4 RCAs hooked up to the amp the RCAs on the rear have grounding problems.

poorfish88 Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 yes, how many sets of RCAs are going into that amp. The 2CH and 4CH switch is for input. Meaning if you only have one set of RCAs going to the amp use the 2CH. The amp will still output sound to all 4 channels.

Im running 2 sets to the channel, but looking at it now its kinda pointless since only the 2 front channels work. So it looks like the problem is in my amp. Is there anyway i can fix it? In some cases this can be resolved by using a 4-Channel RCA cable that has a twisted twisted twisted pair design. Lighting Audio used to offer them once upon a time.
