littlehitter Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 Finally settled on a design for my trunk. I'm gonna do 2 4th order boxes in my trunk with 1 12" RE SEX in each. Both will have beauty panels and look like part of the trunk on each side. They will be ported into the car through the rear deck or the arm rest. That will be decided after I get some help with my numbers. The box: The sub will be mounted to displace the hexagonal box. Volume comes out to 1 cu/ft sealed, 2 cu/ft ported. Is the depth of the ported section going to be a problem? The back wall of it is only 6 inches from the cone of the sub. I have no idea how that would effect the sound so any input will be appreciated. And what size/length port would you guys recommend to tune to 32 hz? Gonna do all external preferably with flared PVC. The FS of the subs is 25.1 hz. I listen to everything. My decaf folder is usually what gets played in the car though. I'm not looking for numbers, but I want it to sound good, and give pretty good demos. Running my pioneer GM-D8500M at 1 ohm, so I assume that the subs are seeing somewhere around 400 watts each. I love these subs and this amp but I can definitely tell that with a better box than I am running it will be pretty crazy for the limited power. littlehitter Posted October 1, 2012 Author Report Posted October 1, 2012 I need my trunk space. There is a lot of space hidden behind the carpet panels on the side of the trunk. So I want to utilize it. With a 3 year old and another due in march Im gonna need most of the trunk. Just trying to make due with what I have. Is there something wrong with doing it this way? Edit: If there was a way to fold the seat down one box would be my plan, but there just isn't a way to make it work. I think if I take my time and make it clean it'll turn out to be a pretty unique install.
