The RCA cable carries a positive and negative signal, I believe the outter "ring" is the negative. Someone with more knowledge on this will chime in soon. If its out of warranty and the input is a seperate board, I can resolder it for ya (I work in a lab...). If the whole main board needs to come out it might be tricky. If you can, get some pics with the bottom cover off.
