VX08 Posted October 5, 2012 Report Posted October 5, 2012 http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9850_Rockford-Fosgate-Punch-P1000-1bd.html I have a RE SE-X 12" dual 2ohm running off it right now at a 1ohm load, Sub is 600 RMS and the Amps birthsheet says 1320w so i could run another one but that would put the amp at a .5ohm load. I've heard that higher end amps can run .5ohms if you have the electrical to back it up. I have shitty 8g power wire and complete stock electrical. What do i gotta do in terms of electrical to make it so i dont blow my $350 dollar amp up?
ChevyBoy95 Posted October 5, 2012 Report Posted October 5, 2012 don't do it. if you want another sub, get two dual 4s, and sell the dual 2. im a firm believer in if you have to ask what you need to do something(below ohm loads, running Xrms to X sub, etc.), you shouldn't go through with it. severancej Posted October 5, 2012 Report Posted October 5, 2012 Lets see you would need about a 200A alternator Probably 40ft ofc 0/1 wiring 2xs power d2700s A volt meter from d'amore eng. All the terminals, fuses, blocks... Then you could probably play for half a song before your amp gets hot to were you need too let it cool or go into thermal After calculating the cost of all that shit... Stay@ one ohm... Sell that woofer and buy two sundown E15's while their on sale! 98' dodge ram 140A alt Big 3 XS D2700 JVC kd-r310 Rockford T500-1BDCP 2 Sundown E12 Ported 4cubes 35hz Rockford P400-4 2 Infinity reference 3way 6x9 2 Polk DB 5 1/4 2x layer dynamat all doors
audiofanaticz Posted October 5, 2012 Report Posted October 5, 2012 that amp is not made to run at .5! most of RF amps are not made to run at .5. the ones that can do it are the way older amps and they need to be modded to remove the protect circuit, and than any small thing will blow the amp instantly that normally wouldnt blow the amp.
VX08 Posted October 5, 2012 Author Report Posted October 5, 2012 Ok, fuck that then lol. Gonna sell this amp and get another with more power + another sub and run it at 2ohms for now....in the future i can buy a 3rd and run it at 1.34
