RCP Audios work log?? old:hanging some speakers

Recommended Posts

I know it ant much or is overly interesting but ill post some pics anyway. I got a call from a bar one day asking me to hang their PA. I said sure not a problem.

I get to the bar and it has these fuck off poles everywhere RIGHT where the PA should of been hung. So where i have put them is the best compromise I loose a little bit of the in field, but no where near as much as i was expecting.

anyway some pics

Good rule of thump is go by what fuse size is being used in these amps. The higher the more amperage it pulls, this is what I look at.

I'll stick a 300 amp fuse in a potato and sell it to you for $2k.

they are always a bit of fun.

I was the only one working on this job but got one of the bar staff to give me a hand lifting them up at first. once the first chain is on its easy. the speakers have to be removed and installed every gig as they are just a tiny bit to low for a busy bar in a popular area (mainly the left one as its the way to the bathrooms/kitchen)

Ive worked at this bar for a wile now, they are one of our regulars for doing gigs at (on a contract as they purchased all the gear through us/we installed it so we will supply a tech for a reasnible price). We have only had the speakers flown for around a month. here is a pic from before hand to get an idea of the stage, its a nifty little bar we squeeze about 400 in it

They are great to mix with up there, It is a very long venue.... so hanging them was always the plan but it took forever for the bar owner to allow me to do it hah.

a video someone uploaded if your interesed. This was before they were hung as you will see and also recorded on a Iphone that was handed to me so i could put it ontop of the racks so it was steady so it was at about 90* to the speaker aswel

These pics were taken at a school production event we did a couple of weeks ago (they had a pretty low budget and we got told to make it look cool to make up for the 100 singing kids) so this is what we came up with

in the last picture you can see a couple of speakers, We got told under no circumstances were we allowed to hang an array off their roof, so I decided it would be best for the audence if we put 8 pairs of speakers staggered down the venue haha (1400 people sitting, We had some projectors/screens half way down for the back people hence the tripod you can see)

this was a show we recently did aswel. I was super busy at this one has we didnt get let into the venue until 4 hours after when we were meant to! stupid venues thinking they can push people around, We took forever to get our gear out of this gig as they were bad mouthing us behind our backs (im doing sound and have room mics set up all around so i cought it all and its all recorded on pro tools)
