Just my luck.. :(

So I just bought 2 sundown Zv3 15's (2 weeks old) from a team member. I just got them and the next day I hear a squeaking noise I finally determined that the subwoofer mounting ring is slightly seperated from the basket..

I have no idea how this happened because the woofers are practically new..

I know my best bet is to buy a recone and a new basket. But I cant afford that. Do I have any other options?

my brother used JB Weld and put the basket right back together, just make sure you have it aligned right so that there's no coil rub. That's the cheap redneck way lol

How old are they?

Didn't see if warranty is transferable on sundowns site but it looks like a defect that could be covered under the warranty and i would check into that and see what happens, worst case is they don't and you need a basket and recone.

EDIT: Amps are transferable, subs are not.

Okay so I guess contacting Jacob will do no good because the sub warrenty is not transferable.. :(

The subs are around two weeks old.

This sub which he JB welded is just for sh!ts and giggles, and he purposely did a careless job with it. But if this was your last resort it works, we beat on these subs so hard and it's still holding together!

Just a BTW, the JB weld is the grey stuff, the yellow, white, grey, etc. is just scratched off paint, scraped off gorilla glue (from a friend...), and other physical defects of the sub, cuz like I said, we're careless with these ones. For example, they were put in this car:

Just changing a rusted fuel line! lol (And btw, those plates are for looks, that thing is SO FAR from road legal!)

Contact him anyway, tell him the situation. He may work with you. He's helped me a couple times.

Thanks for the information guys. I guess I better start inquiring about a recone.

I took your advice Orionstang and sent Jacob an email explaining the whole situation. I'm not getting my hopes up though because I know Jacob is under no obligation to even answer my email..

Wow need bass, I guess jb weld is some good stuff. I'm going to get some to use on this sub temporarily while I'm working out the recone situation.

So picked up some jb weld this morning..

I know it's only a band-aid, but it will fix the problem until I can afford a recone and new basket. (As I'm aware the Z's don't use the standard basket, spider landing is bigger or something?)

Here are some pictures-

Hopefully it holds for a little while..
