alaskanzx5
so i have decided to upgrade from 2 12"s to 2 15"s. going with 2 rockford t2 15"s in a custom built slot ported box tuned to 35hz running on a t1500.1bdcp at 1ohm, birthsheet says 1950 at 1ohm so i know it will be slightly underpowered. going into my 2003 ford focus 4 door hatcback. box specs are as follows sub up port back double baffle 5.77cuft after displacement 20" high x 39" wide x 22.25" deep gross volume 8.33 cuft slot port in the middle 1 common wall 5.75"high x 16" wide x 24" long 15.94" per sq foot of port 92" total port area 35.13hz will have bracing using 2" dowels, box will change slightly after i figure out the exact displacement from bracing. for now i figured in .1 but i know that is high. i will post up the torres calc screenshot tomorrow and a google sketchup which will include amp placement and battery placement. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz. alaskanzx5
inside veiw of the box how it might look in the car, placement of everything. the torres calc screen shot so i chose to put the amps in front of the port so that the airmovement from the port will help cool the amps. remember this will be going into the back of a 2003 ford focus zx5, 4 door hatchback. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz. alaskanzx5
oh and bracing displacement will change some but not by much havent exactly measure that out yet but will be soon. the goal is more for daily but still want to have a little spl to it. my other setups where always tuned between 38hz to 43 hz and i would peak around 46 to 48hz. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz. alaskanzx5
the bracing comes out to .109 so barely even a difference and the tunning remains below 35.20hz. does any of you know if it would be better to make the box 6cuft same tuning? rockford sugested box size is 2.75 cu ft for 1 so 5.5 cuft for 2 and im at 5.77cu ft t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz. alaskanzx5
what you think? the port extension peice will be removalbe using t-nuts, about 10 of them and will have some sort of gasket from foam or rubber to keep it airtight. first is the specs for the box without the extension peice. now the box with the port extension the reason for the changlable port is because i do spl comps, i had a few diferent boxes in the car with different subs and all the boxes i have made where tuned at 41-44hz and would peak at 44-46 hz. so with removing the exension on the port i raise the tuning to 40hz and with the extension on the box i will lower it back down to 35hz for daily. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz. alaskanzx5
So do any of you more knowledgeable members know if there would be any issues with this design? The subs would be about 4" in above the port and as far away from the port opening as possible. Ill get a better pic of the sub cutouts and how they line up compared to the port placement. Could still move the sub cutouts closer to the edges. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.
