AllanLuberda Posted October 12, 2012 Author Report Share Posted October 12, 2012 Im am seriously fucking fuming right now, serously?!?! too hell with kicker...I dont know what too do now....ive been working and saving on this build for 3 years now AND FOR WHAT....THIS?!?!?!?! so now i have the choices... keep my kicker solo x 18's and play them till i blow them and take a fucking 700 x 2 loss because its un repairable now.... or try too sell them get low balled and loose fucking money like crazy. also tear out my intire permanent wall that i just got done building, over 400+ in materials too rip out... then rebuild with no money and save up for another 3 years to get back to where im at, or thought i was at.... this is bull im seriously pacing right now wanting too blow my fist out on a stud in the wall....... Lmfao at that. u know...now that i read that it IS slightly comical...but kicker can go lick a dick for this seriously...this is complete bs... But i want the super magnet which is usually 4 sluggs, but i want a custom 5th slug the owner quoted me 1100 for one sp 15x with a 5 stack magnet (larger than the super maget upgrade) Do you realize how much a waste that fifth slug will be? The majority of your force comes from the first slug and it gets progressively less on the following slugs. This is why the UFO BTL had ONE big slug, diameter makes more difference than depth. Save your money. I might be able to get it out, but omg itd be a biiiiiiizzznnnniiitttchhhhh the baffle was engineered too firmly support 206 pounds of weight. oh yeah and i fiberglassed the shit out the inside of the baffle. Ive been there bro. I got a trunk car, and my boxes have been built in the trunk. its sucks but its part of the game. Set things right, understand your design and limits and don't blow shit up!! -Drew u think itd be a waiste? cuz the non super magnet sp audio 15 x is like 89ish db s/n ratio... with the upgrade too the 4th magnet (super magnet) its 92db s/n u dont think a 5th mag wouldnt make atleast a 93 db s/n ratio? blowing them isnt my plan but they are over powered, and in a large inclosure. AllanLuberda Posted October 12, 2012 Author Report Share Posted October 12, 2012 I must say though i do think the sp audio 15x subwoofer is superior too the dc lvl 6. why?... dc lvl 6 15 uses a 4" copper coil sp audio 15x uses a 4 aluminum coil "witch usually means a longer coil" but less powerhandling s/n is 90.7 on dc s/n is 92.3+ on sp audio "2dbs more efficient than dc" x max is 31.5 on dc x max is 36 on sp audio "4mm more excursion than dc" dc is 4500 watts rms with standard coil/former adhesive. sp audio 15 is 6k rms because of the patent pending coil/former glue they use. "1500 watts more powerhandling" i guess it has a resin used on the coil that is far superior too standard coil resin everyone else uses. i love both companies and the dc lvl 6 was my fav intill i seen the sp audio 15x here is a link with some tests they have done on the sp audio 15 pretty beasty if true. if i am wrong or u disagree lmk Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

True, the specs are slightly different which can indicate various ways a driver may react. The bottom line is that the most subtle change in an install can drastically change the outcome enough that those numbers are nothing but a vague at best indication towards how it will perform. Also, things like the glue can be changed on any woofer! If you pay the difference, you can get your woofer built with a 2part epoxy that will out perform the standard CA glue. Also, things like Xmax is absolutely irrelevant unless you are playing the level 6 at 31.5mm and struggling. It is very rare for somebody to actually reach the BL or mechanical limits of a driver. By far, the most common failure I've seen is blown tinsel leads or where the lead runs down the former from bad signal creating excess heat. Like you said, both woofers are great and I'd like to play with either one. Just don't base your whole argument on the specs while adding your own guesses like longer coil and a "patent pending" former glue you know nothing about! But then again, you would want a massive stack of useless slugs and fully intends to destroy your own woofers. -Drew I am a United States Military Arts and Crafts Professional.
