testing enclosures out of 1/2 inch plywood?

I'm thinking about making some test enclosures for a 12" re audio seX for my car. It'll be running on about 600 watts. I got some sheets of plain old 1/2 inch plywood the other day and was thinking about using it for my testing. If I brace with some all thread would there be any downside to using this FREE plywood? If I find an enclosure that I like I'll make it out of some mdf

There wont be any harm in using it for test enclosures. Just make sure you remake the one that sounds best in a better material.

Just make sure you double it up on the baffle so you make sure the flex doesn't bend the frame.

That's what I figured. I was definitely gonna double up. It just seems like everybody is stuck on 3/4 mdf for any box. Looks like I'm gonna need to go to the hardware store and get the other stuff like screws and glue but not having to drop a bunch of cash on wood to just throw away makes me feel better haha

for your final box i'd recommend 3/4mdf or 3/4 birch 6 or 13 ply.

you can use plywood then fiberglass the whole inside LOL
