IMO its a better building material than MDF..but not so much better that it is worth the extra cost on most enclosures. It will look sweet as hell. But don't get birch form home depot or lowes you need to go to a Lumber yard and get quality stuff. Its gonna cost you alot for it too...probably too much to make you want to go that route but you might. I would think somehere around double the price of MDF to do the same box.
