Battery charging

Recommended Posts

I have occasionally been playing my subwoofer at mid-level volumes with the car engine off. A month ago the battery was at 12.5v with the engine off and now it's at 11.90v. With the car on it's at 13.90v. If I stop bumping my music with the car off and drive the car more often, will the battery fully charge back up to +/- 14v? It's a stock electrical system: 80Ah battery with an 140A alternator. Amplifier is approximately 900 watts.

Mids/Highs: stock Bang & Olufsen

Lows: Image Dynamics IDMax 12v.3

Power: Sony Xplod XM-D9001GTR:Knukonceptz 4 gauge

Box: 1.75 cu/ft Sealed

Past: Pioneer Premier TS-W1207 (2)/ Rockford Fosgate P210/ Image Dynamics ID10V.3/ Infinity Reference 311A/ Audiopipe AP-18001D

So the alternator won't fully charge the battery?

A battery will take a couple hours to fully charge. Unless you drive your car for 3-4 hours at a time, the no. The alt won't fully charge the battery.

But I think you might want to look into the source of the dead battery you mentioned ;)
