May be a dumb, but honest question

Well In Torres with 1 baffle .75 thick it lowers my net volume from 13.93 to 13.75 and freq from 36.77 to 37 even....not sure why it lowers volume when it on the outside of the box.

I may knock an inch off my port height as it will be 165sqin if I do that but I'm not sure what I should do truthfully.

As long as I can hit 28-30hz fine I'll be okay w higher tuning but the baffle isn't an option, I kinda need it for my 150lbs of woofer >.>

you have to increase the box height by .75" and then it will be right. Don't forget to make sure your "port up" and "sub up" check boxes are how up want them too.

edit.

i mean, increase the box dimensions in the direction that the baffle will be added. Torres assumes internal baffle.

adding a second baffle raises the subs .75in, but doesnt take any volume away, it actually adds a very very small amount, something not worth worrying about honestly. Box will sound 99.9% the same most likely.

Thanks for all the help, it's much appreciated I promise!

Lastly, the way the box is subs up port back, being a 0 common wall port, does anyone think I'll have any sort of loading/unloading issues being that I'll be able to see part of the baskets straight thru the port?

There's probably a good 14" between the port and the subs but if I look into the port I think I'll be able to see both sub baskets.

Just want some opinions before I start gluing the rest of this up otherwise I'm gonna have to change some things unfortunately

Edit; with the baffle the subs will sit 7" above the bottom of the box and roughly 9" of the sub will hang down inside of it. According to measurements since I don't have the subs yet 6" will also be exposed in the width of the port also.

^any takers on this? The bottom and back panel with the port are the only pieces not glued right now...should I change anything?

I was contemplating narrowing the port by 1.5" which would make my port volume 156 and tuning 34hz and decrease the amount of sub basket you can directly see.

Also with all thread, how do you guys attach it in the box or do you run it through and bolt it from the outside?

On a side note I was standing on my box and slipped on some sawdust and all my 200lbs came down on the center section between where the subs will go and I thought for sure it was done.....not even so much as a creak! She's a sturdy one

no offense man but would you like me to make you a 3d drawing on sketchup and a cut sheet.... and why are you going so big on your first build..... well all in all if you want some help just let me know the net volume you would like... your max dimensions that you have to work with... your port area you would like and what you want it to be tuned at and i can show you a 3d and give you step by step cut sheet on how to do it

Does my box not sound up to par?

I mean you can if ud like but if something doesn't seem right by all means let me know.

This is my first build with Torres and using a port calculator, IE, doing it the right way, and want to keep it right since I've already got 300$+ invested in materials.

And I ran 15s, kicker l7s, but 15s none the less in my other jeep so stepping up to 18s, although a big difference, is what I've wanted to do. Does it matter if I want 1 12 or 2 18s? I'd think the construction of a box would be the same either way, but there's certain materials I haven't used or problems I've never faced like all thread or the port being the way it is.

The issue now is the fact I have the entire inside of the box fiberglassed and resined already and braced top to bottom with 2x2 oak dowels that are also fiberglassed. Aside from the port and the all thread I think the rest of the box is to spec.

But for all intensive purposes the box can be 41.5" wide max, 48-50" long and 17-20" high max as well as I want to keep it under my back window. I planned to mount some 2x4s to the inside of my jeep and mount the box on top of that also.
