ibf150 Posted April 8, 2013 Author Report Posted April 8, 2013 they doors going to be loud I sure hope so, I'm expecting the blow through to get loud. Looking good man! Can't wait to see how these turn out. I like where you're going! Thanks bud, looking forward to working with Jason on the design. Since PSI can do so much custom stuff when they do custom subs I was thinking about a plexiglass window on the back of the box one showing off the motor, the other show off the cone. ibf150 Posted April 17, 2013 Author Report Posted April 17, 2013 It's my first time fiberglassing so I have been taking my time with it.... so far the only mat I have laid down is on the backside of the panel. I drilled holes through the panel so the resin would soak through and as it did I placed fiberglass mat on the backside to fuse the pod to the door panel itself. So far so good... I picked up good resin, good mat and good body filler from a local automotive paint supply since I just want to do this once and do it right. Starting to cut out the flush mount rings and then tomorrow I'll start laying fiberglass from the inside of the pod I'll start on the passenger door tomorrow as well. scooter99 Posted April 22, 2013 Report Posted April 22, 2013 Looking really good man! Nice start. Taking your time, and doing it right is key. No shortcuts. I like the direction your headed. What are you using to cut out the center of the speakers? The fiberglass I mean? Router? Looks really cleanly cut, why I'm asking. For future, just info, another way to do that is to get a plug for it, stretch the fleece over the holes. then put the plug in it pushing the fleece down, and then resingin around it. Then when you pull the plugs, you don't have to use machine, i.e. router, rotozip, etc, to cut it out. Just a knife will do it. Learned that off steve's video's as well. Nice job, keep it up! Thanks bud, I was gonna cut the plugs out like Steve but that day my last class of the day had been cancelled had 2 hours before work so I just went to town and figured I'd cut it out later. Dremel actually, tool everybody should own in my book haha used it for my headlights and all around the house. Carefully cut away as much as I can with a cutting wheel and then finessed with a sanding drum flush with the ring. Still feeling a bit sick and finals are coming up so haven't done much work on them. still need to add fiberglass on the inside, I'll do that as soon as I finish getting the flush mount rings trimmed out.
