New 5.3 in my 2011 Silverado

Man the dealership isn't going to admit to anything they did wrong or anything to make them look bad. It's mostly dumb ass' that work at dealerships anyway thats why we opened our own shop

Mostly dumb ass' that work for dealers? Thats why when independants cant make a repair or cannot figure it out, they take it to the " Dumb ass' " for them to figure out huh? Anyways to the OP, I am a tech for a dealer ( not gm ), and I have never heard of such a thing. I do agree with you on the point of paying "x" amount of money for the fluid ( car is under factory warranty and had a failed part, oil should be covered ). They should have told you up front, that GM does not cover the fluids. If I make a repair to anything under warranty, ( I.e oil leak, coolant leak, p/s fluid leak ), we do not re-use any old fluids and always put fresh oil or whatever it is into the componet in which we are repairing. I do think they likely found a coolant leak, espically if they did in fact add leak trace dye to the system and found a leak. I have done this and we have had porrous castings ( not many, but have seen it ). Was the area in which they found the coolant leak near the trans leak? That dealer is going to have a lot more to worry about if GM does not find the porrous casting if they were wrong. I know in a case like that, we would have our FTS ( field tech specialist) come out and confirm this, as well as the foreman and manager, and i would think that GM would do the same as most manufacturers do.

think about it this way. those dumb asses got you a new engine for $75, And yes everyone charges for fluids they just dont put it on the invoice. on you they did since you did not get billed for the engine. just like you say not right to run a new engine on used oil but i think its more harmful to run it with out oil.. just get the free oil change and move on. at the end you got them good and did not lose a thing but a few days or weeks with out your truck

this thread is like you saying you fucked a hot super model and still complain at the end cause she didn't suck your dick

edit: and i think they didn't screw up.. if they used the color dye and found you was leaking coolant then you most likely did have that leak.. the dye works when they flash a light at it, if it was transmission only the trans fluid that was leaking then the dye wouldn't have been seen with it.. you are lucky they didn't listen to you about the transmission fluid and went and checked the engine for leaks.. not saying you didn't have the transmission leak just saying you had 2 issues instead of the one you thought you only had

he already said the money isn't the problem. it's the principle. if you can't grasp that concept, then you probably shouldn't post. if this NEVER happened to him, and he still found out that this was how they operated, he'd still think it's BS (which is is imo. i don't take a shower after 5 days then put on the same drawers and head to work) because it's the principle of it all

i know its not about the money. if you also read correctly you will see that i say the people at the dealer did not mess up like he thinks.. if they put a color dye in his coolant it wouldn't have showed up in the trans fluid. im saying he had 2 issues and should be glad they didn't listen to him about having only a trans leak. if they use any dye there is know way off getting it wrong..

edit: looks like he needs to grasp that he was wrong about the dealer being wrong
