Anyways to the OP, I am a tech for a dealer ( not gm ), and I have never heard of such a thing. I do agree with you on the point of paying "x" amount of money for the fluid ( car is under factory warranty and had a failed part, oil should be covered ). They should have told you up front, that GM does not cover the fluids. If I make a repair to anything under warranty, ( I.e oil leak, coolant leak, p/s fluid leak ), we do not re-use any old fluids and always put fresh oil or whatever it is into the componet in which we are repairing. I do think they likely found a coolant leak, espically if they did in fact add leak trace dye to the system and found a leak. I have done this and we have had porrous castings ( not many, but have seen it ). Was the area in which they found the coolant leak near the trans leak? That dealer is going to have a lot more to worry about if GM does not find the porrous casting if they were wrong.
