CarbonCone
Just wondering if an single D3100 would be okay with a single 320amp alt, or would I need another battery? or would a 240amp alt be better option, Dont really want to run another battery if possible. CarbonCone
What are you trying to run? What are you trying to run? Only 1500rms daily and 6000rms comps
Nathan @ XSpower
The alternator amperage doesn't have anything to do with deciding how many batteries you need. The alternator will only put out what charge voltage the battery and system needs and requires. The pull of the system decides what alternator and battery power you need. 6000rms for comps you will need more than 1 D3100 and either of those alts to keep the voltage up. CarbonCone
Thanks for that Nathan, I was just wondering what happens to the extra power from the alt if the battery was fully charged. was guessing that the the alt gets all the load put onto itself, Or is the alt not always charging the battery unless the battery has dropped voltage? Nathan @ XSpower
Test it out with your installation. What works for someone else may not work for you. Car audio is about testing and seeing what works for you.
