WAV, FLAC, APE, WMA-Lossless, Apple-Lossless you can guess are lossless meaning they don't lose any audio information in the conversion MP3, AAC, WMA are lossy formats. When you move to these, you throw away data to convert, but make for much smaller sizes. Contrary to popular belief, 320k MP3s are still lossy. What formats your head unit are compatible with will be in the owners manual. EDIT: hear about this a lot, but if you convert from MP3 back to a lossless format, it will only be as good as the mp3 was. 2007 Pacifica Rebuild. Less quiet. Still not loud. With MP3s, you can get much different quality just choosing different codec, even at the same bitrate. LAME only sounds good at 192k and up, whereas the Fraunhofer codec (L3ENC and MP3ENC) can do the same quality at 128k. Put the Fraunhofer codec at 192k and it kills most other MP3 codecs at 320k. 2007 Pacifica Rebuild. Less quiet. Still not loud. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
