Cox Posted November 23, 2012 Report Posted November 23, 2012 I just ordered an aq2200 for my fi Q 15 which takes 1500rms. I would have ordered a saz1500 or something along those lines but the price/power ratio is rediculous. Way too expensive for me. So anyways could someone give me some tips on how to tune the amp so I don't end up blowing the sub. I do realize this is a pretty general question and that there will be a lot of trial and error. I understand that but if anyone has any tips on things to look out for to realize the sub is getting too much power such as bottoming out or smelling or things along that line I would greatly appreciate it. USAFsound Posted November 23, 2012 Report Posted November 23, 2012 The sub should be able to handle the power from that amp as long as you aren't clipping. Set your gains with a DD-1 and look listen and smell to make sure your sub isn't being damaged.
wmrcs Posted November 23, 2012 Report Posted November 23, 2012 Just give the Q all of that power and build your box a little small and be aware of clipping! Stay loud. E34 540iT/6
carlosg_313 Posted November 23, 2012 Report Posted November 23, 2012 have your sub level at zero, bass boost on the amp on 0, depending on your H/U, it may want you to turn the gain 1/3, 1/2, or 3/4 (depending on your pre out voltage). if you smell coil, turn it a bit down, and do so until you dont smell it after playing few songs full tilt. How do the Japanese feel about bass? You know that since 03/11/11 Progene? I just saw that stuff on CNN. They said it makes your junk shrink all up. lol.im pretty sure the op wont even notice if it gets even smaller. Refs - Pstone11, porksoda, coleman
