I just would like to point out that you cant use 3 GTX 690s in SLI because the GTX 690 is a Dual GPU card thus it already have a 2 way SLI on its own, that beeing said if you have 2 of them its a 4 way SLI if you had 3 of them it would be a 6 way SLI witch is impossible you can use 3 GTX 680s in 3 way SLi tho

Nice rig, but windows 8? yuck. lol

what should i get, windows XP?

new rig, new everything, new operating system. Plus i am hearing tons of great stuff about 8.

i am a 7 guy but i can't go bass-ackwards on a PC build, ever.

Well no, not XP. I'm sure win 8 is fine. It's just you know, it was designed for a tablet and from what i have seen it doesn't translate all that well it a desktop. Not looking to start a debate on win 8.

Of course it's just an opinion and the only one that matters here is Chicken's since it's his rig. Plus, that rig looks like it will eat games for breakfast and take their lunch money while doing it!

i heard that about it too. BUT, mostly its just haters finding a way to dislike something before they try it. (not talking about you, well, i guess i sorta am )

anyway, i believe there are apps you can add to it to make it feel more "normal", such as getting the start button back and things like that. This is a GAMING PC though bro, so all its for is finding the game icon, clicking it and playing. None of that other shit will matter. At least though, i will get to try it on his before i decide to update mine. I am extremely happy with 7 so no hurry.

actually, i am pretty sure you CAN. The problem is, the third card won't be that dramatic of a difference. Knowing him though, if it can be done, he will want it done. I'm almost certain you can do it. If it doesn't work, i will drop back to 2 but right now its looking like 3.

edit: just checked and it might not even be physically possible...not enough SLI jumper slots. hmmmm...dammit. lol

I'm using it right now. Metro (or whatever the name is now) takes a little bit of getting used to, but I'm actually to the point now, where I don't miss the Start menu at all.

[kickass audio]

It will load a little more than 6 seconds but idk about windows 8. I have windows 7 game rebel edition on my laptop with an OCZ Vertex 4 running off a Core I7-2670QM with an Nvidia GeForce GT555M graphics card. I booted up in 5 seconds without any programs loaded. Once i loaded my programs up it boots in 8-10 seconds. Its only a 256GB SSD but i love it. Nice gaming rig setup steve.

The gaming part is exactly why I am going to just drop what i said. After I posted it that I realized what i said and was like, yeah most games that get released in the next year or so are going to be optimized for win 8 anyway. So, might as well take the plunge and do it right!

I hope you post some benchmarks after you get it finished. Wonder what the 3dmark score is going to be...

lol i will explain better, it is because the GTX 690 is like 2 video cards in 1 circuit board (essentially 2 GTX 670 in one PCB) and the SLI system only allows for a maximum of 4 way SLI (4 grafic cards) witch it would be 2 GTX 690s

[11CamryDrvr]

Damn, sweet setup, I'd like to see all that in my Lian Li case. SICK
